KJSIM was established in 1981. It is spread over an area of 60-acre.The KJ Somaiya Institute of Management is affilaited with the Somaiya Vidyavihar University. It is approved by the UGC and is located in Ghatkopar, Mumbai. KJ Somaiya Institute of Management Mumbai has partnered with international universities and organisations to support student & faculty exchange programmes and research initiatives. KJ Somaiya International Collaborations include collaborations with The University of Akron, Yunnan University, Saint Martin University, and the University of San Diego.

It is ranked 52 by QS World Ranking 2026 under ‘Full-time MBA’ and 65 by NIRF 2025 under the ‘Management Institute’ category. KJSIM is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business and NAAC. It was earlier known as K J Somaiya Institute of Management Studies & Research (SIMSR). The college offers MBA and MCA courses to students. KJ Somaiya offers PG courses to students across Sports Management, Healthcare Management, and various other streams. The Institute has launched programmes such as Parivartan, which works on Nurturing Potential and Student Progression Index.
